The Cachagua Playboys

A short history of the band

The Cachagua Playboys were formed by drummer, John Tallon, in December of 1993 out of a need for alternative music and an appreciation for the music of Louisiana. As their set list grew, so did the interest of their fans. Jay Burriss, an accomplished singer songwriter, was the accordion and guitar player. He was the writer of most songs on the first self titled CD released in 2001. The Playboys were a 6 member band for several years after acquiring a talented accordion player from Toronto, Kevin Gould who was touring with his band. In 2004, Jay’s health became an issue and he stepped away to work on more projects and to improve his health. Since that time, the Cachagua Playboys have remained intact, creating and paying tribute to the music of the dream State of Louisiana, as well as Americana music, surf music and originals. As of 2010, two CDs have been released, “The Cachagua Playboys,” and “Surf Zydeco.”
